I’m Nandhini Aravindan, an Event Emcee, Model, Anchor, Dancer, Singer from Chennai. I have hosted more than 100 events in the last one year and have been associated with more than 100 clients. I have hosted a lot of branding activities for my clients and this experience has made me write article to help others who are looking out for ways to brand their products or services.
Understanding Who are our Targets:
Every other project has to be start off by targeting a set of audience who are called as our “Target Audience”. But identifying the target audience is again a great challenge. Because there is always a sales ladder where we have the following people on the scale of the ladder.
UNAWARE —> AWARE —> SUSPECT —> PROSPECT —> CUSTOMER —> CLIENT —> RAVING FAN —> STAKE HOLDERS
Hence to convert the people from UNAWARE to AWARE we need the initial promotions through events. Only then they can become a SUSPECT where they come to know about the product and have an idea of what can be the best out of this product. The next stage is the PROSPECT where they get converted from stage 3 to stage 4. The prospects will have the complete confident to go for the product. The next stage is the customer where the real game starts. Now that the customer has already purchased the product and has experienced the service in one way or the other for the first time. The next is the CLIENT where he/she comes to us on a regular basis after liking the service that is provided by us. Then comes the RAVING FAN who is our die hard client who also facilitates our sales by promoting amongst his/her friends circle. And finally the STAKE HOLDER who is everything for us to run the business. As he is also part of the business who takes the complete responsibility of owning the business no matter what.
1. Corporate Event:
The first target audience I have chosen is none other than the CORPORATE SECTOR. In case your product is something related to youngsters with the age between 25 to 40, then your first option should be Corporate people.
We need to create a common platform for the target audience. In order to do that we need to spread the message. IT Sector can be one of the best targets as people are both educated and wealthy enough to afford the services provided. It can easily reach these masses when compared to other sectors. Hence I have chosen the first level of target as the CORPORATE SECTOR. As a first venture we need to hit them as it is gonna be a massive HIT for us..
EVENT PLANS: IT functions only on the weekdays, hence we need to target mostly to cover them on the week day. It can either be all 5 days of a week for every corporate company by laying the stall in order to explain our products and services. Promoters girls and boys are to be taken with us and train them about our product. They need to explain about the products/services to the crowd. The complete event has to be taken over by an EMCEE to have some interesting games to be conducted as a part of emceeing and promoting the product to attract the crowd. We shall have some learning in each and every promotion that we do. Hence lets take it as a good learning or lesson and move forward with much more clarity and idea for better results.
2. Mall Activity:
A MALL activity is always the center of attraction. And as an emcee point of view it is more likely to a cinema, where the only difference is that we are in live performance. This is one of the easiest way to captivate the audience. An easy reach/ promotion can be made to all sectors of people for low class to high class. Mall activity reach is definite.

Their job is to go and talk to each individual who are coming to malls and explaining them about the product/services. If possible we shall give the brouchers, pamphlets, leaflets etc. Every weekend we can have emcees to host the show for product promotions.
3. Theater Promotions:
Movies are the best recreation factor and theaters are the place where there are more crowd flowing in every day 24*5. Hence our next target will be cinemas and theaters to do promotional activities.

Their job is to go and talk to each individual who are coming to movies and explaining them about the product/services. If possible we shall give the brouchers, pamphlets, leaflets etc. Every weekend we can have emcees to host the show for product promotions.
4. College Promotions:
Youngsters are the soft targets! They are our super targets I would say. Hence we need to concentrate on them to make them our valuable prospects.

If possible we shall give the brouchers, pamphlets, leaflets etc. Every weekend we can have emcees to host the show for product promotions.
5. Beach Activity:
The best place for targeting the couples and lovers. They are our sweet targets.

If possible we shall give the brouchers, pamphlets, leaflets etc. Every weekend we can have emcees to host the show for product promotions.
6. Apartment Activity:
If your targets are kids and families then apartments and close enclaves should be our preference. This will be the hot spot for targeting both parents and kids.
EVENT PLAN: We need to get prior permission from the apartment association committee to fix a day for our promotional activity. The activity should target the kids by giving them various competitions like drawing, painting, story telling, rhymes reciting etc. and make the parents feel good by making their children expose to different activities. The winners need to be announced at the end of the show and give them prizes which is a way of encouragement and through which our marketing takes place. Through this our brand gets established and parents would tend to inquire more about the event and talk about it, by which word of mouth spreads across the apartments. During the event, the emcees will announce about the pointers of the brand and make them aware of what are we all about. Meanwhile the promoters shall give the brouchers, pamphlets, leaflets and make them fill inquiry form as a part of lead generation which can be further used for follow-up by the sales & marketing team. Every weekend we can have emcees to host the show for brand promotions.
7. School Activity:
If your targets are purely kids and children, the best place is to have School activities.
EVENT PLAN: For example; If we need to promote a food product then we shall first take permissions in schools by explaining them the necessity of the brand promotion and goodness of the product. Take minimum 2 hrs permission from the school authority for the event. The main problem during the start of the event will be the arrangement of school auditorium with a mic. Generally the school authorities will not be ready for the promotion activity. Only after the arrival of promotion team they may start making the arrangements. Sometimes last minute haphazard might also happen like rejecting the auditorium and making us to conduct class by class which is a very time consuming process. So always the person who takes permission for schools from the marketing team should bear certain things in mind.
1. Take 2 hrs of permission
2. Inform the date and time of the event and make sure they register it somewhere or give us a signed copy of the acknowledgement form.
3. Take responsibility to remind the school authority the previous day about the event
4. Make sure that you inform about the auditorium and mic arrangement while getting the permission
5. Inform them about assembling the students all together in the auditorium in order to complete the activity all in one canopy.
6. Ensure that the food products, banner and other necessary things reaches the venue well-ahead
7. Emcee has to be well-informed and briefed on the food products and it’s necessity so as to explain the students.
On the day of event, the food products and banners will be arrived at the venue. The Event marketing team member with his team members should arrive at the venue well ahead of the stipulated time. Meanwhile they should make sure the auditorium and mic are kept ready by the school authority. Then comes the emcee to host the event. Once everything is ready, the students can be called to assemble in the hall and give them a good set of games ensuring that the product knowledge is also transferred through the game activity. An experienced emcee who has a prior experience of doing such activities will know how to tackle the students. At the end of the activity the food product samples can be distributed to the students and remaining can be given to the school authority to distribute to all other target students.
