The term Sangeet is Sanskrit, which when translated into English literally means as sung together. The Sangeet ceremony takes place two or three days before the wedding, and is a Punjabi (Indian/Pakistani) ceremony. In the old days, the Sangeet was reserved for women only, but these days many couples are deciding to have a Sangeet that includes both women and men.
The Sangeet is a time for celebrating, singing, dancing and joking. It can include some good-natured ribbing of the couple’s soon-to-be in-laws and it’s also a perfect time for wedding guests to meet and get to know each other. The bridal and grooms family learns songs and dances to perform. After being amused by all the singing and dancing, guests can get ready to enjoy the luxury buffet.

Synopsis of the Sangeet plan
Ideal time to start the Sangeet would be 6 p.m and can be held upto 8.30 p.m. MC will arrive at 5.30 p.m. and keep the table ready by 5.45 p.m. for displaying offline Table games. As the family members & guests may arrive between 5.30 to 6.30 p.m., the floating crowd can be engaged by conducting Table games as and when they drop in. The Mehendi Artist will arrive by 5.30 p.m. and will be engaging all the ladies and kids by inviting them for getting their hands decorated with traditional and Arabic designs. Starting from one person until 50% of the crowd arrives the offline games will be conducted, in order to value the presence of early walk in crowd. Once the majority of the crowd arrives (i.e) roughly by 6.30 to 6.45 p.m. MC will take the center stage to start the event formally. As the guests arrive, they can be served welcome drinks and brought to the game floor to be a part of the fun events. The Welcome Address will be given by the MC which signifies the actual commencement of the program. The MC will start with Ice breaking session where the audience will start involving themselves into the game arena. The family members will be divided into groups for games and Anthakshari to add more fun and frolic to the evening. The schedule will be followed by alternating fun games and dance performances by the family members, guests and finally the Bride & Groom to beautify the Sangeet ceremony. Meanwhile the floor will always be filled with exotic and jaw-dropping performances by special artiste like B-Boying, Special Dancers, Variety performers etc. At the end of all dance performances and fun games, the DJ floor will be opened where random music will be played, all the family members and guests who are interested to tap the foot can join the floor and give their sizzling performances. Once the floor is opened for DJ, MC will give an official announcement on the dinner. All foodies can hunt for it and rest can still enjoy dancing. Post which the selfie time starts and also the Photographers will be on high demand!

Thus Sangeet can be concluded for the day. This is an example of how a sangeet generally looks. Adding and excluding certain activities depends upon the client and also the Event management team. I have given you the skeletal look and structure for a sangeet. You may develop it in a more creative way by extrapolating certain aspects.
